I was first introduced to pairing fruits with meats when I was a little girl by my French grandfather.  He would always eat turkey with fresh applesauce.   So, as long as I can remember, our family has had fresh applesauce along with our Thanksgiving turkey.

I love to pair meat with fruit!  It really helps to bring out the flavor of the meat, and it really tastes nice together.

If you are new to the idea, here are a few combinations to get you started…

my mum always used to make what she called ‘pear salad’– tuna fish mixed up and dolloped in the middle of half a pear. I still eat it every once in a while, and people think it’s crazy.

I also love bacon and bananas on toast. so so good.
